Harbin – A Russian trade representative said that Russian commodities are expected to enter the Chinese market.
Sergey Inyushin, Russia’s trade representative in China, said that with the joint efforts of Russian commodities, manufacturers and exporters, more agricultural products and food from Russia will appear in the Chinese market.
He said that China has a great demand for soybeans, corn, beef and mutton, and agricultural cooperation is becoming a new growth point for Russia-China economic and trade cooperation.
In 2018, the trade volume between the two countries exceeded 100 billion U.S. dollars, and bilateral economic and trade cooperation continued to expand.
“Last year, Russia and China strengthened cooperation in the import and export of dairy products and frozen poultry meat,” he said. Russia’s exports of agricultural products and food to China increased by 51.4% year-on-year.
The two countries are also expanding cross-border e-commerce cooperation and signed a memorandum of understanding on Wednesday at the 6th China-Russia Expo held in Harbin, the capital of Heilongjiang Province in northeastern China.
He said that today, Chinese customers can buy many Russian commoditie online. “In the future, Russia will continue to bring more Russian agricultural products and food to China through e-commerce.”
From January to September 2018, the trade volume of cross-border e-commerce between the two countries reached US$3.7 billion, a year-on-year increase of 23%.
