Algeria – According to Chinese customs on Saturday, China is top trade supplier of Algeria in 2018. According to the report, Algeria imported goods and services worth $7.85 billion from China in 2018, accounting for 17% of total imports from North African countries.
It added that China is top trade supplier of Algeria for the past six years.
France is Algeria’s second largest exporter with US$4.78 billion, followed by Italy ($3.65 billion), Spain ($3.53 billion) and Germany ($3.18 billion).
However, the report said that the trade deficit in Algeria fell by 53.73% to $5.03 billion in 2018, compared to $10.87 billion in 2017.
The report said that the decline in the trade deficit was due to rising oil prices and the result of the Algerian government’s policy of restricting imports since the beginning of 2017.
According to the report, the country’s exports in 2018 were US$41.16 billion, an increase of 16.98% over 2017.
