More than 3,000 foreign companies from 150 countries and regions have confirmed their participation in the second China International Import Expo (CIIE) in November, said Sun Chenghai, deputy director of the CIIE Bureau.
To commemorate the 100-day countdown on July 27 to the 2nd China International Import Expo, the organizers announced several supporting policies and introduced their preparations in Shanghai.
“The exhibition area, new product launches, and the number of Fortune 500 companies and industry-leading companies will exceed the number of Expos last year,” Sun said.
He said that there are 39 domestic trade delegations, including 600 sub-trade delegations from provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities. The registration of professional visitors is open on July 1.
A new chapter on aged care, virtual reality and augmented reality will be added, and the show will provide an outdoor area for those who want to experience autonomous driving and winter sports.
The General Administration of Customs has set up a special customs office at the Shanghai World Expo Center and Shanghai National Convention and Exhibition Center to supervise the customs clearance of foreign exhibits and provide one-stop services for exhibitors at the exhibition.
Fang Xiaohong, deputy director of the GAC Port Management Department, said on Thursday that the customs authorities would allow exhibition organizers to provide uniform tax guarantees for exhibitors and promote approval and quarantine procedures for exhibition approval.
Customs has introduced 13 policies to promote this year’s expo process and publish a list of restricted items and prohibited items for potential exhibitors on its website.
“We will extend the time of the ATA badge from six months to one year,” Dang said. “We have developed this policy for CIIE and introduced it to other import fairs in the country.”
The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs has approved the import and export of endangered aquatic plants and animals to Shanghai.
The Shanghai Intellectual Property Office stated that it will give priority to reviewing the applications of exhibitors at the Expo and set up a service window at the exhibition site.
The World Expo is the world’s first national-level fair dedicated to import. Last year, the first World Expo ended with an expected transaction value of more than $57.8 billion.
Shang Yuying, deputy secretary general of the Shanghai Municipal Government, said that the city has seen the spillover effect of the World Expo. As of July, the city’s annual trading platform has listed more than 13,000 products and 752 billion yuan ($10.9 billion) worth of imported products from 558 exhibitors.
