Beijing – From June 23th to 25th, New Zealand hosted the 6th China Food Safety Expo (IFSTIE) National Pavilion for the first time.
The pavilion and promotion will be based on the theme “A country you can trust”. Zespri, Fonterra, Silver Fern Farms and 13 other SMEs participated as China Food Safety Expo exhibitors.
The head of the New Zealand delegation, Ivan Kinsella, Chairman of the New Zealand Business Roundtable, opened the New Zealand Promotion Conference.
“Food safety is an important part of New Zealand’s national brand,” Ivan said. “We have a rigorous control process. We must work closely together on policy, information sharing and project cooperation. Food safety communities.”
Howard Staveley from the Department of Primary Industries outlined New Zealand’s food safety framework, followed by keynote speakers, including Zespri, Fonterra and Silver Fern Farms.
Yue Fenpeng of the China Academy of Inspection and Quarantine (CAIQ) introduced his traceability system and why CAIQ established a laboratory in New Zealand. He said: “Labs use Chinese-accepted testing methods and standards to speed up customs clearance.”
Magic Lamp is a cross-border e-commerce company founded in 2015 and now earns more than $200 million. Kevin Wang, founder and CEO of Magic Lamp, said his platform helps more than 300 companies in New Zealand, Australia and Germany sell their products to China.
The New Zealand Pavilion was organized by the NEXT Federation in cooperation with the World Expo organizer Economic Daily.
William Zhao, chairman of the NEXT Council, said: “As a country, there is a gap in the collective promotion of food safety in New Zealand. The Expo is the perfect platform for New Zealand companies to work together to tell the story of New Zealand….
